After running into some mildew yesterday, I went ahead and decided to take everyone's advice to ditch the peat pots. I picked up some local potting soil, some rock dust, and some worm castings and mixed up a new seed blend. I threw out all Jiffy Organic mix I had been using as it seems to be harboring some kind of nastiness that is causing me issues. I will likely add the thrown out Jiffy mix to a pile in my backyard somewhere. I also opened all the seed pucks that were binding the roots of the plants. Hopefully the roots will spread out as this process goes on.
The two clear plastic cups were done yesterday due to the urgent need to abate the mildew in those particular pots. In the last 24 hours they have show absolutely no signs of distress, rather, they seem to be spreading out.
Additionally, I hit everything with a very weak mixture of Neptune's Harvest Hydrolized Fish & Seaweed Fertilizer.
Ooo! Those green onions are growing nicely :)
